Ever pleaded with your mind to stop the chatter just so you can hear your heart think? Ever tried to counter one thought by thinking another? Ever wished tying a noose around your experiences and throwing it down a well just so you can experience innocence again? I’m sure you have, but it doesn’t work like that- That’s until you chance upon something that does that, exactly, for you!! Like when something in the air tells you that your favorite season is about to arrive or finally finding the song you’ve chased for years or simply listening to a Van Morrison vinyl some lonely evening- and suddenly you’re joyful, the mind is one less matter, meanings lose relevance, words are mumblings, sounds are delicately spiraling – like a thought beginning midway and swirling around itself, remaining midway.
This tea is one of those chances. This Second flush will surprise you as it surprised us. We’d love to tell you about its origins and how it ties into its sweetness, but that’s not quite it. Describing it would be like filling in the gaps of a sweet memory – irrelevant and futile. The only thing that comes to mind is listening to a Van Morrison song (Not Dylan, not Cohen). It’s a ‘Sweet thing’ – more like the ’71 bootleg of ‘Sweet thing’. Begins halfway through a thought, fading into itself……. Tasting it is like like watching sugar caramelizing – smoldering slowly – hot- sweet – golden brown- within reach!! Like longing without the heartache of experience – The pursuit of thoughtlessness made irrelevant.
No matter what your preference is, you will find mercy in its sweetness.
